Caitlyn Ratcliffe was attending a friend’s birthday party at the Wacky Warehouse soft play area above a pub in Staffordshire, in February 2009.
A member of staff allowed an automatically-closing door to shut on the middle finger of her right hand. The accident fractured a bone in Caitlyn’s finger and the wound also became infected, resulting in her having to wear a splint for three months and being unable to write at school.
Punch Taverns, who owned the Plough Inn in which the party was being hosted, agreed to pay Caitlyn £3000 to be held in trust until she is 18.
