Two serious road accidents occurred on the A19 in Teesside on 15th March 2015 that led to a section of the road being closed to traffic for some time. One man was arrested following the incidents and a total of eight people ended up in hospital. The portion of road that was closed ran between the A179 Hartlepool junction and the turn-off for Wingate by the A181.
Both collisions were said to be serious in nature. It is thought that one person was critically injured as a result of the incidents, but no further information was given. Two incidents 30 minutes apart
According to information about the accidents, the first occurred at around 10 am. This crash occurred between two vehicles as a car turned out on the A19. There were no serious injuries resulting from this crash, although two people were taken to hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries. The second accident occurred at 10:30 am close to Sheriton. It was believed to involve three vehicles. This resulted in six casualties being taken to hospital, including the person who was seriously injured.

Air ambulance attended the scene
The air ambulance was called out as a result of these accidents. Normal ambulances and the fire brigade were also in attendance. An arrest for dangerous driving was made, but no more information was provided on who was arrested or what occurred.
