Kirkcaldy councillors have decided that improvements need to be made with regards to road safety and congestion around schools in the area. Councillors met to discuss the impact that congestion is having on the residents in the area and what could be done to promote traffic regulation. School road safety has become an issue since the decision to close Fair Isle Primary School’s car park to parents picking up and dropping off children. Councillors fear that this may become an issue in other areas of Kirkcaldy and have agreed to extend waiting restrictions in a street close to Strathallan Primary School. Traffic regulation orders are already in place in other areas of Strathallan but this order is hoped to push traffic away from the smaller streets into the main roads during pick up and drop off times at the school. Councillors are unsure how to promote walking to school to avoid putting traffic measures like this one in place but congestion in the area is causing a problem for residents. Unfortunately, traffic accidents due to congestion have the potential to happen which can have serious consequences around schools.
Road traffic accident compensation
Road safety is never more important than when around an area highly populated with children and pedestrians. Road traffic accidents can cause serious injury and even death if a motorist is speeding in a highly populated area which is why school road safety is particularly important. School crossing supervisors are often seen around schools but congestion can cause impatience among drivers and can have the potential to cause an accident. If you or a family member has suffered an injury from a road traffic accident that was someone else’s fault, you may be able to win some compensation to help you cope financially.
