The husband of American politician Sarah Palin is on the mend in hospital after a snowmobile accident in Alaska.
Todd Palin was injured late on Sunday, although it is not known exactly what happened.
His former racing partner, Scott Davis, said the 51-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
‘Bad snow machine accident’
Mr Palin is no stranger to snowmobile racing, having raced with Mr Davis for years in Alaska’s annual 2,000-mile Iron Dog snowmobile race.
He broke his arm during a high-speed crash back in 2008, yet the duo still managed to end the race in fourth place.
His latest accident was described as a “bad snow machine accident” by Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, which Sarah Palin is supporting.
But Mr Davies said Mr Palin’s father, Jim, told him he was would be okay following a stint in hospital.
Snowmobile racing is a dangerous sport, just like skiing on the slopes can be dangerous.
Skiing, snowboarding or driving snowmobiles comes with a series of risks, so precautions must be taken.
People must be aware of any rules or safety risks beforehand, while checking the weather is also a good idea.
Unfortunately, no matter how a person adheres to safety procedures, accidents can still happen. When skiing, for instance, dangers occur when skiers collide with other enthusiasts, fall due to failed equipment, loss of control, have insufficient experience, or are sometimes the result of lift failures.
