"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Sailor accident counselling

Injuries sustained on a boat or ship can be traumatic. Sailor accident counselling can help victims to cope with the consequences of an accident at sea. You might have been away from your home and family for extended periods of time and living in a confined space. Accident Advice Helpline is here if you want to fund private treatment that can help you to come to terms with what happened. A counsellor can put your troubles into perspective and offer advice on how to move forward.

Post traumatic stress disorder is a common condition following a sailor accident. Time is a great healer and can alleviate the anxiety and fear you may feel, but private treatment will help in the here and now. Getting private treatment is quite a simple process. There are many sites that recommend counselling services, and sessions can often be booked at short notice. We must stress that Accident Advice Helpline is not a counselling firm. We cannot book you in for sessions or match you with a counsellor. We can help you by making a counselling claim if you do decide to seek private treatment.

Am I eligible for a sailor accident counselling claim?

The rules regarding sailor accident counselling claims can be different from standard personal injury claims. In the UK, there is often a two-year time limitation period for accidents at sea depending on the circumstances. This means you may have to claim during the 24 months after you accident. You can still get in touch if you have missed this deadline as we can advise you on exactly what your situation is and if you are eligible.

Victims must also have been treated for their injuries. This might have happened already if a medical professional on the vessel treated you. Finally, a third party, such as your employer, must have contributed to the accident in some way by being negligent.
