Road Traffice Accident (RTA) claims experts

Road traffic accidents claim a considerable number of lives each year and in the majority of cases, can be attributed to errors made by other drivers. If you have been involved in a road traffic accident that was not your fault, you may be able to make a claim for compensation.

You could be awarded compensation for:

• Loss of earning suffered as a result of your accident

• Repairs to your damaged vehicle

• Treatment that will help you overcome your injuries

When should I contact RTA claims experts?

In almost all cases, it will be necessary for you to make your claim within three years of your road traffic accident. You should therefore contact RTA claims experts at the Accident Advice Helpline straight away. If you are concerned about the amount of time that has passed, call our Freephone helpline and speak to one of our professional advisors immediately. The three-year rule may be waived if you are suffering from a mental disability or are under the age of 18 years.

How do I start proceedings?

To start the proceedings you will need to provide our RTA claims experts with the following details:

• Your personal contact information

• The date on which your accident took place

• Details of the accident, such as where it took place and what happened

The more details you provide, the faster we will be able to start your claim. If you can remember any of the following details, we will be able to speed up your claim:

• The injuries diagnosed following the accident

• The names of the police officers who attended the accident

• The details of the people you hold responsible for your accident

You can make a claim even if you do not know the details of the responsible party. Our RTA claims experts can usually trace the driver through their vehicle’s registration number. However, if this is not possible, your claim will be presented to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau.

What happens next?

Once you have provided us with all the details of your claim, we will appoint a solicitor to manage your case. We can process most claims by telephone, meaning that it is unlikely that you will have to attend court.

The majority of RTA claims are relatively straightforward and the responsible party will usually agree to compensation awards in a timely manner. We understand that your road traffic accident will have caused your considerable stress and aim to process your claim quickly, efficiently and with the utmost sensitivity.
