Road rage experiences revealed by survey

How often do you experience road rage, and are you similar to everybody else out there? We’re here to answer these questions with a recent survey carried out by Accident Advice Helpline into road rage experiences. It seems that almost 44% of us have experienced road rage at one time or another – which is actually not that high when you consider some of the situations we encounter on the roads, such as roadworks, delays and dangerous drivers.

Rude gestures and aggressive driving can lead to road rage

The survey of people across the UK revealed that although almost 38% of use experience road rage rarely, a worrying 5.4% experience it every single time they get behind the wheel. And whilst just over 68% of people said road rage wouldn’t change the way they drive, for almost 32% of people, changes to their driving was evident after road rage experiences. This could put you more at risk of an accident in which you or somebody else is injured. So what are the most common causes of road rage?

Aggressive driving was cited as the main culprit by almost 52% of those surveyed, with overtaking and tailgating mentioned frequently, but it seems that almost 35% of people blame rude gestures and 32.7% of us say being cut off in a lane would bring out our road rage. And when we do get angry, almost 56% of us would use our horn to let the other driver know, whilst 15.4% of us would tailgate another vehicle, which could potentially cause an accident.
