"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Plumber accident claim

At Accident Advice Helpline, we can give you free, no-obligation advice on your plumber accident claim. Our lines are open round the clock, so you can call us whenever you like and you’ll find our team friendly and helpful. We aim to take the stress out of claiming, and that means that we won’t pressure you to make a claim if you’re not yet sure what you want to do – we’ll just talk through what happened to you and help you to work out what your options are.

Because of the way compensation is regulated, we will only be able to help you if you saw a doctor about your injuries and if your accident happened less than three years ago. We are also unable to help you if the accident was purely your own fault, although if you were only partially liable then claiming may still be possible in some cases. If you think this may be the case, don’t discuss it with anyone except your solicitor and us.

    Employment and self-employment

The way you should approach making a plumber accident claim varies depending on whether you are employed or self-employed. If you are an employee and you have been injured because your employer neglected an aspect of their standard health and safety duties – such as ensuring that you have proper training and equipment, and are not placed in hazardous situations when there is a safer way for the job to be done – then your case will usually be treated as an industrial accident claim.

If you are self-employed, claiming can be more complicated. For this reason, it’s a good idea to make sure that you have comprehensive insurance cover. You may, however, be able to claim against the person who hired you if you are injured as a result of a risk you could not reasonably anticipate – for instance, if you were hurt by dangerous wiring, or if something fell on you whilst you were working. If a tenant hires you, there are also some cases in which you could claim against the property owner.

    Where to begin

Whatever the nature of your claim, you will need to make sure that you have good legal representation. At Accident Advice Helpline, we employ expert solicitors with a variety of specialisms, so we can match you up with just the right person and ensure you have the best possible chance of success. We have an extra motive to get it right, because we won’t ask for any payment if the case is lost.

We can arrange for you to work with your solicitor by phone or email, so you won’t need to worry about fitting meetings into a busy work schedule. If you are temporarily unable to work because of the accident, we’ll help you to claim for money to make up for your lost earnings. If you are unable to work on a long-term basis, compensation can help you to live a comfortable life and be as independent as possible.
