How safe do you feel at work? You have the right to work in a safe environment, whether you’re a sales assistant in a shop or a labourer on a building site. And it’s up to your employer to ensure that your workplace is a safe place – that means providing you with the training you need to do your job safely as well as ensuring that your working environment and equipment are up to scratch. If you feel physically at risk at work you could be injured in a workplace accident at any time, and if this has happened to you, making a claim for accident compensation could be on the cards.
Our survey says
Accident Advice Helpline recently commissioned a survey to find out more about workplace accidents and we asked people whether they felt physically at risk at work. The results came back and revealed that almost 73% of those surveyed said they didn’t feel at risk, with 19% saying that yes, they felt somewhat at risk. 61% of people surveyed worked in an office environment, with just over 5% employed in roles working outdoors and 1% working in a workshop environment.
Traditionally, industries such as construction and agriculture have been viewed as more dangerous than working in industries such as retail or in an office, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Your employer should adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure they’re doing everything they can to keep you safe at work.
Making a claim for compensation
If you feel your employer has put you physically at risk at work and you’ve been injured as a result, you could make a 100% no win, no fee claim with Accident Advice Helpline, provided it’s been three years or less since your accident. It doesn’t matter which industry you work in or what job you do, you have the right to be safe at work. So if your employer has been negligent, you could get in touch by calling our freephone helpline on 0800 689 0500 to find out if you have a viable claim, or take the 30-second test on our website right now, to find out how much compensation you could be entitled to after your workplace accident.
You’re entitled to compensation if you’ve been injured due to somebody else’s negligence, no matter how minor or serious your injuries. Our team has been helping people claim since 2000, and we’ve received an endorsement from our patron, TV personality Dame Esther Rantzen, for our excellent customer service.
