    What is the Patients Association?


    You may have heard of them briefly but not be properly aware of the role the Patients Association have to play. They provide advice and support for patients who have gone through a variety of experiences in the medical profession. They operate a helpline patients can call to share their experiences and stories.

    The information the association gets from patients is then used to shape future campaigns. The association campaigns to make changes that will yield positive results within the healthcare industry. For example if a number of patients complain or share their concerns about a particular situation, the association may highlight this in future and seek answers.

    People can also ring their helpline if they want information about using any aspect of the healthcare service. For example they may be unsure as to how to use a service or how to complain about treatment they have received.

    As such there are a number of situations in which contacting this organisation would be a good idea. They also issue a variety of reports throughout the year based on information and research they have gleaned in a number of different ways.

    When might it be necessary to go to the Patients Association?

    If you’ve had a negative experience while receiving treatment or consulting with a GP or other medical professional, you may consider the Patients Association as your first port of call.

    Since they offer advice and support they might also be able to steer you in the right direction if you need information on a particular aspect of medical care.

    Their useful booklets are also available if you become a member of their association for a nominal monthly fee. While their helpline is open throughout the week their website is also very useful.
