"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Partial blindness counselling

At Accident Advice Helpline, we know that adjusting to life with damaged sight can be very hard, and that’s why we recommend partial blindness counselling. Too often, the support services that emerge after an accident concentrate on addressing physical needs and leave emotional difficulties unaddressed. Even for people who manage to cope in the short term, this can lead to long-term problems. You have a right to counselling support that can help you to lead a more normal life, and we’re here to help ensure that you receive it.

    Claiming for counselling

At Accident Advice Helpline we believe that if someone else caused your sight loss, that person should have to pay for the support you need as a result. This applies whether or not the damage was deliberate, and regardless of whether it was caused by a single accident or poor treatment over a period of time (such as poor working conditions). Fortunately, the courts understand that access to counselling can be important to the recovery process, so we can normally ensure that any compensation payout includes money to fund this if your doctors think it would help you.

Due to the way the law works we are unfortunately unable to take on cases where the accident happened over three years ago, unless the victim was a child and is still under 21. In a few cases we are able to get special permission to proceed if sight loss has been caused by an illness that developed due to inadequate safety in the workplace, so it is still worth calling to enquire if this applies to you.

    Starting a claim

If you’re considering making a compensation claim, give us a call. Our lines are open round the clock and we’ll be happy to talk through your options with you. If you have a legitimate claim and you want to take it further, we can put you in touch with a solicitor who specialises in cases like yours.

You will be able to deal with your solicitor over the phone and we’ll do our best to keep you from having to travel as we realise that it can be difficult when you’re adjusting to sight problems. We can arrange for you to receive any important documents in large print format and we’ll make other adjustments if necessary. Some of the people whose claims we help with don’t even have to appear in court.

You won’t need to have money to begin with in order to pursue a case with us. We work on a no win, no fee basis, which means that you don’t have to pay us anything if we lose. If we win, we usually have our fees paid by the other side. We’re confident that we can pursue the vast majority of cases successfully, and you can be confident that we will work hard on your behalf.

Getting partial blindness counselling can help you to regain control over your life and rediscover the joy of living it. We will do everything in our power to help.
