Nationwide injury claims

Over three million people are injured in accidents in the UK each year. There are a number of ways you can be injured, including:

  • Road traffic accidents
  • Slips, trips and falls in public places
  • Medical negligence
  • Accidents in your place of work

Nationwide injury claims provide compensation for people who have been involved in such accidents. They provide compensation for the pain and suffering, but they also cover the injured person’s out-of-pocket expenses and replace any wages that have been lost because the person involved in the accident had to take unpaid time off work.

Most people and businesses have insurance which covers them against claims made against them by people who have been injured in accidents which were their fault. In the case of road traffic accidents and accidents at work, this insurance – Motor Insurance and Employers’ Liability Insurance – is compulsory.

How much compensation results from nationwide injury claims?

The amounts awarded as compensation in nationwide injury claims cannot be guaranteed. It varies depending on the nature of the injury and a range of other factors such as the age of person who was injured and if the injury affects their lifestyle or career on an ongoing basis.

Minor injuries such as cuts and bruises are worth relatively little, although the compensation tends to be more if they result in permanent scarring. Larger amounts of compensation are awarded for more severe injuries, such as those involving the back or the brain.

It is not possible to accurately determine the average amount of compensation awarded in the UK because many compensation claims are settled before they get to court. However, it is thought to be in the range of £5,000 to £7,000.
