What do I need to do?
You may be able to start a claim for financial compensation if you can show that somebody else caused your accident falling down a manhole. Your claim could be helped if you document everything that you know about your accident, including the date, time and location. Try to recall whether there were any witnesses and see if you can establish contact with them to check if they would be willing to speak on your behalf. Take photographs if these are relevant to your case, including some of the manhole itself and the faulty or removed manhole cover. Your personal injury lawyer will probably be able make a better case by knowing as much about the circumstances around your personal injuries after you fell down a manhole.
Should I try to settle a claim for financial compensation?
After your personal injury lawyer has contacted the other person or persons involved in your falling down a manhole accident and they have admitted they are at fault, your personal injury lawyer should be in a position to tell you how much your compensation claim could be worth. In many cases, if you are happy with the claim amount, you will be advised to settle in order to avoid a lengthy court process. Such a process may not lead to an increased claim amount.
