A man was awarded injury compensation after he sustained not one, but two injuries in his workplace in the space of a month.
Simon Davies was hurt the first time in July 2009 whilst using a circular saw in a Lancashire workshop, before injuring his left hand three weeks later on another rotating blade. He broke a bone in his finger as well as losing part of his nail and suffering lacerations.
His employer, Village Pine, was issued with no less than seven enforcement notices by the Health and Safety Executive, requiring them to stop permitting employees to use the saw, which was clearly unsafe.
Village Pine representatives Kenneth Bramall and Gill Brown admitted breaching safety at work regulations and were fined £6,000 each, whilst Mr Davies was awarded £1000 compensation for his accident injuries.
