A dramatic road traffic accident in Leeds has left a man fighting for his life.
The unnamed 22 year old was travelling in a stolen Ford Fiesta when it struck bollards after veering off the Old Farnley ring road and flipped, landing upside down in the garden of a house on Blackpool Terrace.
The Ford had, moments earlier, collided with a VW Polo travelling in the opposite direction, but its driver was thankfully unhurt, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Police are trying to trace a second man who was seen running from the wreck of the Ford, which had been stolen in Bradford.
Eyewitnesses describe hearing the noise of the crash before running out to find the 22 year-old lying in a pool of blood in the garden.
“It was a pretty shocking scene. The car was in a really bad state – I can’t believe anyone could have walked away from it,” says one witness.
The ring road was closed following the accident, which caused problems for many commuters in the morning rush hour the next day.
The 22 year old remains in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary.
