Laboratory Accidents: Slips, trips and falls

Laboratories are hazardous environments, with risks of potential workplace injuries including chemical burns; thermal burns caused by hot equipment, explosions and/ or fires; exposure to potentially toxic fumes; cuts and electrocutions. In addition, there is also a risk of slips, trips and falls.

Potential causes of laboratory slips, trips and falls

Accidental spills that have not been cleared up; carelessly discarded packaging materials, and thoughtless threading of wiring across pathways are all among the main causes of injuries by slips, trips and falls in laboratories. Falls may be the result of faulty ladders or a complete lack thereof, or result from insufficiently lit or obstructed stairways. In any case, injuries received in this fashion through no fault of your own may entitle you to personal injury compensation.

Eligibility for slip, trip and fall injury claims

In order to qualify for a compensation claim, your injury must have occurred within the last 36 months, although it is possible to have this deadline extended if you were a minor at the time of the accident. Eligibility to claim can be determined quickly and easily by consulting the compensation calculator provided by Accident Advice Helpline, or by calling the company’s 24-hour helpline. All calls are strictly confidential, callers are under no obligation to pursue a claim even if eligibility is established, and the advisers handling the calls are friendly, helpful and highly experienced in dealing with compensation claims.

Claiming slip, trip and fall injury compensation

Whether you were injured in an accident at work or while visiting a laboratory, it will be necessary to show that responsibility for the incident lies with another person. You will also need to provide statements of potential witnesses and evidence of your injury, its extent, and how it has affected you. For this reason, it is vital to seek immediate medical attention following slips, trips and falls, as medical records can easily show all of this, as well as documenting any medication, treatments and so forth, which you received.

    Accident Advice Helpline

All of this is far less daunting than it may appear to be at first glance, because Accident Advice Helpline’s experienced legal professionals will guide/ assist you throughout the entire claim process.
