Injured on a city sightseeing tour

A city sightseeing tour is one of the best ways to get to know a new place – or even to see one you are already familiar with. While most trips on these tours pass without incident and are great fun (not to mention entertaining) you have to accept there is the potential for accidents to happen, just as can happen anywhere. The question is whether an accident is just that, or whether it is caused by the negligence action (or inaction) of another person.

If this is the case you might be able to make a claim for compensation. Typically if you are on a sightseeing bus they will be double-decker buses. These can be open-top to allow a better view of your surroundings. If you go down the stairs while the bus is in motion and it comes to an abrupt halt without warning, it is possible to be injured. There are no seat belts on buses either, which means if the bus is involved in an accident you may sustain one or more injuries depending on what occurs. Taking proper care is one thing, but it doesn’t prevent injuries from happening during an accident.

What should you do if you are injured?

The first thing to do is to seek medical advice for the injury or injuries you have. However, if there has been an accident you don’t always realise you have been injured until a later point. You might end up realising after you have returned home. The best thing to do is always to get medical attention though, as it creates a record of what happened and how severe the injuries were. Make sure this applies whatever type of sightseeing tour you were on, whether it was on a boat, a bus or even on foot.
