    Industrial accidents can change lives

Working in the industrial sector comes with its own set of risks and rewards – don’t all jobs? But there is no reason why working in a highly skilled manual job means that you should be more likely to be involved in a serious workplace accident. It does stand to reason though that when working with powerful machines, which are prone to all too human error, there is a significantly higher chance that an accident taking place in an industrial situation will turn out to be life changing than an accident taking place in an office.

Defective equipment – One of the most common causes of workplace accidents in the UK. Accidents frequently occur in industrial workplaces because the company simply doesn’t want to shell out for proper maintenance or an upgraded model. It is your employer’s duty to make sure all of their equipment is properly maintained, that you as an employee are protected from it and that faulty materials are removed as soon as the faults have been identified. If you suffer an accident at the hands of a defective piece of equipment and you feel your employer knew there was something wrong with the equipment beforehand, you will have a solid basis to make a personal injury compensation claim.

Moving machinery – Working with heavy machinery is always dangerous, but when that machinery is in a poor state of repair, it’s doubly so. Typical injuries associated with moving machinery include crushed limbs under fast-moving parts; flying debris, and loose clothing getting caught in the machines. These kinds of injury are sadly common in the warehousing, manufacturing and agricultural industries and Accident Advice Helpline is well versed in the logistics behind helping those who’ve fallen victim to serious, long term injuries at work, find the compensation they deserve.

Inadequate training – If you feel that your accident was a direct result of receiving insufficient training from your employer then this will really help you gain the compensation you deserve. It is your employer’s duty to properly and accurately assess your abilities, make sure you get the right training for the right job and provide regular refresher courses for all employees, especially those operating specialist equipment.
