"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Hospital infection claim

When we’re contacted about a hospital infection claim we take it very seriously. Six percent of hospital inpatients in England acquire some kind of infection during their stay and although most of these are minor they can be indicative of serious underlying problems. When more serious infections occur, they can be very dangerous. Reporting problems is an important way to help keep other patients safe. If no suitable action is being taken, sometimes a compensation claim can make all the difference.

We also know that hospital acquired infections can be traumatic for those involved. Going into hospital is supposed to make you feel better and getting ill there can leave you feeling shaken and distrustful afterwards as well as being a horrible thing to go through at the time. It can also leave you with lasting health problems or even with a disability. At Accident Advice Helpline, we can give you the information you need to start setting things right.

    What we do

We run a 24-hour helpline especially for people like you. All our advisers are highly trained and understand what the experience of an incident like this can do to you. They’ll never pressure you or insist on you making a claim. They’ll just listen to your story and help you understand your legal options.

If your hospital stay took place within the last three years, the chances are that you will be able to make a hospital infection claim. If you’d like us to, we will ask one of our specialist medical negligence solicitors to represent you. We strongly recommend working with somebody like this rather than a general solicitor because medical claims can be complex. Having an expert on your side means you’re much more likely to win.

    What about the money?

At Accident Advice Helpline, we don’t think that only rich people should have access to good legal representation. Our solicitors work on a no win, no fee basis, which means you won’t need to have money to begin with in order to make a claim. Despite what you may have heard, the law makes sure that you will always be able to keep most of your compensation if you claim this way. If we lose the case, we won’t ask you to pay us at all. If you have any uncertainties about this system, we’ll be happy to discuss them with you. You will never have to pay to get basic advice from our team.

    What happens next?

Once you have a solicitor, the process of building up your case will begin. With medical cases this can sometimes take a while, but you won’t need to deal with people and paperwork throughout. Your solicitor will take care of most of it. You’ll be consulted before any big decisions are taken so you won’t need to worry. We’ll use all our powers to get you the compensation you deserve, and then you can use that to make a fresh start.
