Hi-tech driver safety training centre installs two more simulators

By David Brown on November 11, 2014

A hi-tech driver safety training centre is opening its doors to businesses next week following the installation of two more simulators which teach drivers how to avoid hazards on the road. Tadea’s Effective Transport Solutions training centre, based at the Future Technology Centre in Sunderland already has one of the specialist simulators and hopes to encourage more businesses to use their facilities with the installation of the new machines. The simulators are housed in BMX Mini’s and offer a 360 degree, interactive driving experience which allows drivers to practise fuel-efficient driving, hazard avoidance and driving in adverse weather conditions.

The simulators can help businesses to educate their employees on road safety as well as help them to cut costs and address health and safety issues. Manager of the company Gordon Pattie has stated that the simulators can help drivers in the lead up to the coming winter and the addition of two new simulators will increase the number of people who can benefit from the safety training. The opening of the new simulators will be held on October 22nd and training on the machines can result in a Level 1 Award in Effective Driving Techniques.

    Importance of fleet road safety

Businesses which operate a fleet have a responsibility to their employees as well as to other road users when they run their business. Driving in adverse weather conditions can cause an accident as can driving while tired or driving will still under the influence of alcohol, perhaps from the night before. Drivers should be taught that these practices are unacceptable with some driver safety training, as poor decisions can be made resulting in a road traffic accident. If you have been involved in an accident that was someone else’s fault, you can contact the Accident Advice Helpline for assistance.
