Harrison Ford suffers film set injury while working on Star Wars movie

By David Brown on July 12, 2014

Most people will be aware that the new Star Wars film has started production, but perhaps more headlines have been made because of the injury suffered by Harrison Ford. According to reports a hydraulic door fell on him during filming, causing him to suffer an injury to his ankle. Some reports suggest a fracture or a break to the bone.

The main concern that arises from this film set injury is how badly hurt Ford is. Other than this many are speculating it could throw a spanner in the works regarding the filming dates for the movie. Ford was airlifted to hospital at the time of the accident as it was suspected he may also have chest injuries. However, later reports seem to indicate this is not the case.

Fortunately the chance of suffering a film set injury is quite rare. Sets are for the most part exceptionally safe places. There are medics on site and various safety measures are taken to ensure accidents do not happen.

Of course there is always the potential for a hazard to arise or for an accident to occur if something goes wrong. While it is unclear exactly what happened to cause Harrison Ford’s accident to occur, it is clear that he will be unable to film for some time.
