"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Freediving accident counselling

Suffering from a freediving accident is very traumatic, and it is natural to feel shaken for a while after the event. If you have suffered a freediving accident, you may benefit from calling Accident Advice Helpline to discuss freediving accident counselling. Freediving accidents can be very serious and sometimes even fatal. After an accident your first focus is probably on physically recovering as quickly as you can. However, even as your body recovers you may find that you are still not feeling better as you struggle with the emotional effects of your freediving accident.

How do I know if I need counselling?

There are many symptoms that would suggest that you are not recovering emotionally. These can include excessive sweating, breathlessness and an unusually fast or strong heartbeat. You may be experiencing flashbacks of the freediving accident or panic attacks. Some people find it hard to sleep and suffer from nightmares. Exhaustion may make it hard to go about your daily life. If you have suffered from life-changing injuries, you may need help coming to terms with them.

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you do not need to put up with them. Consult your doctor – they may refer you for freediving accident counselling. This is available on the NHS, but often there are long waiting lists. While you wait your symptoms may worsen and continue to hinder your ability to work or enjoy your life. If you consult a private counsellor, you can get the treatment you need much sooner. You may need several sessions and this can be too expensive for many people to consider.

    How we can help

Luckily there is a solution. If you have a medically recognised need for counselling, the legal experts at Accident Advice Helpline can help you claim back the costs of private counselling as part of your compensation package. Our experts all work on a no-win, no-fee basis.

If you are already in touch with us about a personal injury claim for your physical injury, make sure you keep your solicitor informed about your potential need for private counselling. You can call our free, 24-hour helpline anytime on 0800 180 4123 from your landline, or dial 0333 500 0992 from your mobile. Alternatively you can text “claim365” to 88010 to receive a call back from one of our friendly advisors.

    Open Claim Calculator

Our advisors will need to know all the details of your freediving accident and the financial impact it has had on you. If the accident was caused by the negligence of others and you are starting the claims process within three years of the accident, we will be able to confirm if you are eligible for compensation and how much you are likely to receive. There is no reason to delay getting the counselling you need. Do it now and start your emotional recovery today.
