"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

Filling out a forklift accident report

One of the main dangers of forklifts is their weight – a forklift can weigh many tonnes, which means if you’re injured in a forklift accident, the results could be serious. If this has happened to you, or if a colleague has been injured at work in this type of accident, you’ll need to complete a forklift accident report. Perhaps your employer has told you this isn’t necessary for minor injuries – but in fact an accident report or book should still be filled out for every type of accident, however minor the resulting injuries are.

This is to protect your employer but also you in the event you decide to make a claim for personal injury compensation, and can act as important evidence in processing your claim. Accident Advice Helpline can help you to claim compensation even if you haven’t filled out a forklift accident report, so there is no need to worry.

Should your employer fill out a forklift accident report?

Whether you have suffered crush injuries after being hit by a forklift or more minor injuries, it’s your employer’s responsibility to ensure that accidents are recorded. You should report your accident to them as soon as possible and make sure it is recorded in your company’s accident book. Employers should also ensure that anybody operating a forklift has undergone the proper training and is qualified to do so. If you have been injured by an unqualified forklift operator, or if your employer has asked you to operate a forklift without training and you have been injured, you could make a claim for personal injury compensation, even if you have suffered minor injuries.
