"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Faulty pipes accident advice

If you’re looking for faulty pipes accident advice following an accident in your home, your workplace or another building, Accident Advice Helpline can provide you with free advice, with no obligation to make a claim. Our 24-hour service will put you directly in touch with a friendly adviser who can talk you through what happened. We can usually tell you right away whether or not you will be able to claim, and we may also be able to give you an idea of how much your claim might be worth.

Accident claims normally need to be made within three years and they can only go ahead if you’ve seen a doctor about your injuries. If you have a very visible injury, such as scalding, caused by the faulty pipes, it’s a good idea to get photographs of it as these can make a strong contribution to your case.

If you have worked on the pipes yourself, you will not normally be able to claim if there are problems with them. If a plumber worked them on, however, you may be able to claim. If you live in rented accommodation, your landlord is normally responsible for making sure the pipes are safe. In your workplace, that duty falls to your employer. If you’re not sure who to claim against, we will usually be able to help you work it out.

    Finding a solicitor

If you want to make a successful compensation claim, you’ll need good legal representation.  Because Accident Advice Helpline is a national organisation, we have a great many solicitors on our team and we can find you one with prior experience working on similar claims.  This can significantly increase your chances of making a successful claim.

As long as you’re happy with it, we normally prioritise speed of taking on the case over finding a solicitor who is based close to where you live. You’ll be able to deal with your solicitor by phone or email anyway, so you won’t need to do lots of travelling. Sometimes, in fact, good settlements can be arrived at without our clients even having to appear in court.

    No win, no fee*

We only take on claims on a no win, no fee* basis. This means that anybody can make a claim even if they don’t have much money. It also gives us an extra motive to work hard, as we don’t get paid if the case is lost. If it’s won, there are laws in place to ensure that you will keep the bulk of your compensation no matter what happens.

    Getting Compensation

If you’re recovering from a faulty pipes accident, the last thing you need is extra stress. Making a successful compensation claim means you can set your financial worries aside. Compensation is there to help you get back on your feet and return to living as you did before. It may not solve everything but it can give you the breathing space you need for a proper recovery.
