Farm safety measures are highlighted in new TV advert

The Farm Safety Partnership in Northern Ireland has launched a new television advert focusing on farm safety measures. The focus of the advert is to highlight the importance of safety when around farm vehicles. Basic safety measures can make the world of difference, as is seen in the advert.

While very few people actually work in farming when compared with other industries, the incidence of accidents and deaths on farms can be potentially very high in relation to accidents and deaths at work on the whole. This is sadly something with which Accident Advice Helpline are only too familiar, having spoken with people who have been directly affected by all manner of incidents on farms over the past 15 years.

Potential aftermath of a death is explored in the advert

The advert shows what might happen after a young boy is killed in an accident on a farm. It has been created as part of a larger Stop and Think Safe campaign, which is aimed at reducing the number of deaths and serious injuries caused on farms across Northern Ireland. According to the figures, 14 people have lost their lives in this region since 2000. Four of those fatalities were children.

This video should highlight the importance of farm safety measures and of taking basic precautions to ensure that fewer accidents and deaths occur. Here at Accident Advice Helpline, we have dealt with many similar incidents in the past, and they can indeed lead to very serious injuries and fatalities.

    Focusing on safety

Safety should be the number one focus in every workplace. Indeed, when this is the case it means that few workers should ever be injured as a result of doing their jobs. Farms can be potentially dangerous places in a variety of different ways. Hopefully this advert will reach lots of people and cause them to consider how many potential dangers exist.

Accident Advice Helpline are always here if you find yourself in a situation where you have been injured on a farm.
