Ensuring your toddler is safe on the road

Cars and children are not always the best combination, but there are many occasions when you have to take your young child in the car somewhere. To see family, to nursery, to the doctors; it’s unavoidable. But there are a few things you can do towards ensuring your toddler is safe on the road.

Ways towards ensuring your toddler is safe on the road

As much as you’d like to you can’t keep your eyes on your child 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But when you are taking your toddler out in the car you should always make sure they are as safe as possible. Here are a few things that you can do towards ensuring your toddler is safe on the road when out in the car:

    • Install a fully functional child safety seat
    • If the child is too old for a child seat, make sure they are able to use a seatbelt
    • Keep children occupied in the car, being disruptive can distract you and cause an accident on the road
    • If possible take another adult with you to look after children while you are driving

Can you make a claim for compensation if someone in your family has been involved in an accident?

It’s something that none of us even dare think about, but accidents and car crashes do happen and unfortunately children are sometimes involved. If your child has been injured in an accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to claim for compensation, but who should you turn to?
