An uninsured driver who hit a cyclist because the ‘sun was in his eyes’ has paid his victim compensation for his injuries.
Robin Perry, 35, of Harborough, Leicestershire, was driving his vehicle on Welham Road on February 11 when he careered into Stephen Whitmore’s bike, leaving the rider with a sprained ankle and a broken wrist. He had to spend a night in hospital.
“In an interview he said he has been turning right when he was hit by something yellow. He saw a person rolling around on the floor,” said Sukhjit Singh, prosecuting.
Perry replied, “I should have taken more time in looking but the sun was coming down the hill and the cyclist was coming down the hill and I hit him,” reports the Lutterworth Mail.
He was ordered to pay Mr Whitmore £200 compensation and was banned from driving for nine months.
