Doctors ‘at risk’ of road accidents

By David Brown on July 31, 2013

Injured drivers are most likely to make car accident claims against doctors, estate agents and data processors, new research suggests.

This is because they are the most accident-prone professions on the road, a study from has suggested.

The comparison website examined more than 13 million car insurance quotes run on the site over 12 months.

It found data processors are the profession most likely to make an “at fault” claim on their car insurance.

This is the top 10 table of most accident-prone professions:

    1. data processors
    2. doctors
    3. estate agents
    4. chartered accountants
    5. air cabin crew
    6. solicitors
    7. scientists
    8. staff nurses
    9. marketing managers
    10. electronic engineers

Pickers and packers less accident prone

The new research suggests that the fewest car accident claims are likely to be made against pickers, packers, painters and flood processors. These all make the fewest “at fault” claims on their car insurance, according to the research.

Peter Harrison, car insurance expert at, said: “It’s surprising to see what your profession can say about your driving habits.

He added: “Doctors, estate agents, chartered accountants and air cabin crew are all busy and demanding professions, so stress and lack of time could play a part in why those who do these jobs are more likely to make an ‘at fault’ car insurance claim.”
