    Doctor’s misdiagnosis – your rights

There are two types of doctor misdiagnosis: the first is where your doctor has made an incorrect diagnosis. For example, a fracture diagnosed as a much less serious sprain. The second type occurs when you have been visiting your doctor for a period of time with symptoms of an illness which your doctor failed to diagnose. You may be eligible for compensation, but what are your rights as a patient when it comes to misdiagnosis?

    What is doctor misdiagnosis?

Your doctor may diagnose you with an illness you do not have or they may fail to spot something you do have. In some cases, this can result in patients becoming seriously ill or being treated for the wrong ailment. In more serious cases, cancer is not detected which could result in mortality, therefore it is essential that your doctor does everything in their power to try and diagnose you and to ensure that the diagnosis is correct. Doctor misdiagnosis is also named clinical negligence which means you may be liable for compensation. You can give Accident Advice Helpline a call for free to discuss your case and we will take you through the process of claiming personal injury compensation on a no win no fee basis.

    Your rights

You have a right to receive correct diagnosis, especially since the consequences can be fatal. The effects of doctor misdiagnosis can be long lasting and can adversely affect the quality of someone’s life which means that financial difficulty may ensue. If you are in a severe amount of pain and you are suffering as a result of misdiagnosis then you have a right to pursue monetary compensation to help cover the cost of healthcare and travel to medical appointments. After all, you are putting your trust in your doctor’s expertise and have no control over their diagnosis, so they are the only person to blame should they wrongly diagnose you or fail to give you a diagnosis.

At Accident Advice Helpline we have a team of lawyers at hand to give you free advice on doctor misdiagnosis cases.
