Most dangerous counties in England for road accidents

Accident Advice Helpline has been operating right across the UK in all areas of personal injury compensation for over 15 years now. In that time, we have dealt with many victims of traffic accidents and have come to identify the most dangerous counties in England for road accidents. Although the number of road traffic accidents is continuously decreasing, any number greater than zero is still too many.

England’s most dangerous counties for driving

  • Lincolnshire – Lincolnshire holds the unenviable title of being home to the most dangerous motorway in the UK. A ten mile stretch of the A18 connecting Ludborough with Laceby has been identified as the single most dangerous stretch of motorway in the UK with 17 fatal accidents occurring on this stretch of road alone between 2011 and 2013.
  • Nottinghamshire – Statistics have shown that road traffic accidents are actually on the increase in Nottinghamshire and it has also been identified as an accident black spot for cyclists.
  • Greater London – It should come as no surprise that the county with the highest population in England is also among the most dangerous for road traffic accidents. In 2014 alone, there were 30,785 reported road traffic accidents of which 127 were fatal and a further 2,040 were classed as serious road traffic accidents.
