"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

Compensation for serious roof fall injuries

Working on a roof doesn’t have to be dangerous, but it’s important to ensure that safety precautions are taken. If you’re working on a roof and end up falling through a fragile surface, you could sustain serious roof fall injuries that could impact the rest of your life. Many people have suffered life-changing injuries such as spinal fractures or brain injuries that have left them physically or mentally disabled and unable to return to work. Others have been lucky and have escaped with injuries which they made a full recovery from – although they may still have had to endure months of rehabilitation and therapy.

Serious roof fall injuries could occur when a worker falls through a roof light. Or you could fall off a roof or scaffolding you are using to work at height. You could even fall through a fragile surface or area of roof and sustain serious injuries. Ask yourself whether your employer has done all they can to protect you at work. If you fell through an unguarded roof light or were injured whilst crossing a walkway without guard rails in place, you may be able to make a claim for personal injury compensation.

How much compensation will you receive?

It’s impossible to say exactly how much your settlement will be – it is different for every individual claim. Your personal injury lawyer will discuss what happened with you in detail, using this information and previous similar cases to determine how much compensation you are entitled to. Obviously, if you are seriously injured and will never be able to return to work, you can expect to receive a substantial settlement if your claim is successful. This will compensate you not only for your pain and suffering, but also for your loss of earnings and the ongoing cost of any care you may need in future.
