Compensation for paramedics injured on duty

One of the most stressful and demanding jobs out there today surely has to be that of a paramedic. And yet it is also incredibly rewarding. Think about the lives you could save and the people you could help, and all on a daily basis too.

Of course it helps to be fit if you work in this role. You will be on your feet for much of the day and you need to be able to take the right actions in every circumstance as well. You can imagine then that being injured could make your work very difficult. Indeed, your personal life may suffer as well, especially if your injury limits what you can do.

    How could paramedics be hurt?

For the majority of the time, paramedics will work in safe surroundings. They will have modern equipment that is fit for purpose. However, if this is not the case they could find themselves injured as a result of something going wrong when they least expect it. For instance, lifting equipment may not work properly, leaving the paramedic to lift someone instead. Even if they only partially lift someone it could leave them with severe injuries.

Paramedics injured on duty could also be attacked by people they are trying to help, or by bystanders. Thankfully such things are rare but there have been instances where this has occurred. This may leave a paramedic suffering from both physical and mental injuries – both of which might prevent them from being able to go back to work.

    Knowing how to move forward

If you are one of the few paramedics injured on duty each year, you could have a chance to claim compensation for the injuries you suffered. It all depends on whether you can prove that negligence led to your injuries occurring. If this is so, you could get help now from Accident Advice Helpline.
