Your back is a complex network of muscles, tendons and ligaments and serious injuries to your back could affect the rest of your life. Back injuries can include spinal and spinal cord injuries, which can lead to a degree of paralysis or even permanent disability.
If you or someone you love has suffered life-changing back injuries, let Accident Advice Helpline help you to make a claim for personal injury compensation. We’ve received an endorsement from TV personality Dame Esther Rantzen and we’re proud of the excellent service we offer to all our customers.
What types of back injury are serious?
Life-changing back injuries could include:
- Slipped disc – also known as a prolapsed disc, this is caused when the disc rupture or bulges, pressing on the spinal cord or a nerve
- Spinal/neck fracture – this can cause paralysis or even a fatality and is most commonly caused by a serious fall. The most commonly fractured bone in the back is the ‘tail bone’ or coccyx, at the bottom of the spine
- Soft tissue injuries – these types of injury include injuries to your ligaments, nerves, tendons and muscles. Whilst you may need an x-ray or scan after sustaining a soft tissue injury, these types of injury are not always visible and it can take a long time for the pain to subside
Life-changing back injuries could be caused by falls from height (such as from scaffolding at work or from a horse), slips and trips, manual handling and even road accidents. Whiplash sustained in a road accident can sometimes extend into the back, causing severe lower back pain.
If you’ve suffered life-changing back injuries which have left you unable to return to work or even permanently disabled, you could be eligible to make a claim for personal injury compensation with Accident Advice Helpline. Don’t worry about expensive legal fees – there are none as our lawyers work on a 100% no win, no fee basis.
