Compensation for injured toy shop staff

Working in a toy shop sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Of course in reality it will involve some hard work. You’ll be trained on how to use the till and serve customers quickly and efficiently. You’ll also be asked to unpack orders for stock as they arrive, so they can be put out on the shelves and priced to sell as quickly as possible.

No staff member would expect to be injured during the course of their work. Thankfully very few of them are, but injured toy shop staff are more likely to occur when the owner of the store does not take every precaution to protect them.

    Health and safety

We are all familiar with this, but the owner of the store should be particularly familiar with their duties in this area. If someone is injured while working in a toy shop they might end up making a compensation claim against the owner. For this to happen they should have good proof that the owner was negligent.

How could this happen? Well, the owner must make sure the staff members are properly trained wherever required. For example if the owner expects their staff to unpack orders and handle stock, manual handling training should be provided. If it is not and a staff member hurts their back lifting something in the wrong way, they could end up having a good case for negligence.
