Working in a hospital can often be a very demanding job. With increasing numbers of patients admitted to hospitals for care, hospital staff may find themselves under a great deal of pressure whilst doing their job. The demands can be physical as well as mental stress. A lot of hospital staff will likely be on their feet much of the time and this could lead to a slip or a fall. Worryingly there are a number of reported cases of violence towards hospital staff, including attack with a weapon, being bitten and being knocked unconscious. If you are injured whilst working in a hospital you could be entitled to compensation.
Of course there should be health and safety procedures in place to reduce the number of injured hospital staff, but if you do fall and are injured whilst working you could be entitled to compensation. The nature of the job means that there are a lot of different types of machinery and tools that as a hospital worker you may be using frequently. If these become faulty and cause injury and is not your fault there may well be a chance you could claim compensation for the injury. Hospital staff are also exposed to dirty needles and infections and if procedures are not followed correctly these could harm staff.
Potential problems for injured hospital staff
Obviously injured hospital staff will need to consider the impact their injury can have on their work, as it could cause difficulty in carrying out the tasks you normally do at work. This may lead you to needing to take time off work as a result of the injury, which could cause a number of problems including financial difficulties for you. Claiming compensation could make things easier for you after dealing with a personal injury from work.
