Bruises hurt – this is something we all know. However, there is a big difference between minor bruises we all suffer and heavy bruising to legs that occurs as the result of an accident. While no bones may be broken, the heavy bruising can be extremely painful and cause you a lot of discomfort if you should suffer from it. As such it is important to make sure you follow doctor’s orders to ensure you rest up and recover properly.
Heavy bruising to legs can occur in many different ways. For example a car crash might potentially result in this type of injury. On the other hand a potential work accident could lead to similar injuries occurring, especially if something was dropped on your legs. As you can see, there is also the potential that this could happen to you if someone else was negligent in their actions and caused the accident to occur.
How long would recovery take?
It would depend on the severity of the bruising and the guidance given by medical staff. However, it is reasonable to expect severe bruising to be rather painful so you might be off your feet for a few weeks. It would also depend on whether there were any further underlying injuries, as these may take a different length of time to heal.
As you can imagine, this can play havoc with the way you live your life. You might end up suffering as a result, especially if you are missing work and cannot do the things you normally would. This is why Accident Advice Helpline has been able to win compensation in cases where the injured person was hurt as a result of the negligence displayed by another person.
Managing the pain
Your GP would advise you on how best to get through the pain and to recover from such injuries. They might also recommend physiotherapy if your muscles and other tissues have been bruised or damaged in the accident.
