When choosing to take a break in a different part of the country there are many options we can choose for our stay including hotels, rented apartments and guest houses. When choosing a guest house for our stay we will expect it to very much be a home-away-from-home, and imagine that we will be looked after very well to ensure our stay is as enjoyable as possible. Although we anticipate a great stay at theses guest houses, this isn’t always the case. It is possible that you may find yourself the victim of negligence and suffer a guest house fall due to a poorly-maintained property, or irresponsible actions of a member of staff.
What kind of falls can happen?
Obviously we try to avoid accidents as much as possible and most guest houses will be extremely diligent with regards to our health and safety. On occasion, health and safety standards are not kept up to scratch and you may find that staff have failed to attend to a maintenance problem, such as a leaking bath that has caused water to seep out onto a tiled floor leading you to suffer a nasty fall. Or maybe you could suffer from a guest house fall due to a member of staff’s direct action, such as leaving a pile of towels or other apparatus that has been used as part of their job on the stairs.
If you had not realised it was there this could cause a serious accident. Often these things can be avoided, but potential hazards can be everywhere. Staff should understand the importance of preventing such accidents, and be extremely vigilant when it comes to trip and fall hazards.
