We all look forward to going on holiday, whether that is abroad or somewhere nice in our own country. Holidays give us the opportunity to enjoy all kinds of experiences, including walking, hiking, swimming and simply lazing around by a pool, a river or anywhere else that takes our fancy.
While it is never a pleasant experience to have an accident, it always seems worse to experience one while you are on holiday. After all, if you are injured, your injury might mean you cannot enjoy your holiday as much as you may otherwise do. Falling on holiday might particularly be an uncomfortable and painful experience to go through, for example.
How might a fall happen while you are on holiday?
Falls are one of the more common accidents to occur in all kinds of circumstances – even while you are away from home. For example you might fall over while walking around a swimming pool or through the hotel you are staying in.
You may have read about balcony falls in the papers from time to time as well, although thankfully these serious incidents are exceptionally rare.
However, falls can potentially occur in other instances too. For instance you might fall over while walking up or down a flight of stairs, or while out shopping in a nearby shopping centre or street. The one thing all these instances have in common is the need to work out whether someone else was negligent in allowing the accident to happen.
Falling on holiday can result in injuries
Obviously if you are injured in some way as a result of your fall you could end up having your holiday ruined. You might also have problems getting back home, especially if you are abroad and need medical assistance in flying home.
It’s good to have insurance to cover this before you go, but in any event you may still experience problems in recovering from your injuries. For example you may be prevented from working or doing any number of other things for a while.
