    Compensation for an exploding microwave

Have you ever come across an exploding microwave? Fortunately few of us will answer in the affirmative to that question, but there have been very isolated instances where people have been injured in a similar manner. Microwaves are usually very safe to use but if there is some malfunction in them, or some part of the construction process has gone wrong, there is the opportunity for something like this to occur.

As you can imagine, when a microwave does explode there is the potential for injuries to occur to anyone who is in the immediate vicinity. You can never tell where any parts of the microwave are going to end up when something like this happens. As such you might end up being hurt even if you are in the next room.

How serious could an explosion like this be?

Any type of explosion is serious. If there is something wrong with the microwave to cause the explosion, it could literally be blown to pieces. The casing of a microwave will usually either be tough plastic or metal, either of which could be blown apart with shards being sent all over the place.

As such, shrapnel could end up going into any part of the body or face. The injuries could be relatively minor if you are lucky, but if you are unlucky you could potentially end up with multiple serious injuries that could change your life. Imagine having a piece of shrapnel going into your eye for example. You could lose your sight.

    What should you do?

If you find yourself confronted with this situation it is obviously paramount that you get medical assistance for any injuries you may have suffered. You should also get photos of the injuries so you know exactly how serious they are and can produce those photos if you want to make a claim later on. Injuries will heal and fade, at least to an extent, so you will want pictures like this as they could come in very useful. In addition you can keep the remains of the microwave as evidence of what occurred.
