We spend a fortune on beauty products and we put our trust in the manufacturers to test products, making sure they are safe for us to use. Yet there have been numerous cases where members of the public have suffered a burn injury at home, or other injury, whilst using beauty products such as manicure kits, cleanser or eye drops.
It’s important to carefully read the packaging and instructions before using a product at home, as this will let you know about any possible side effects or safety warnings, as well as telling you how to use the product carefully. If you’ve followed the instructions and experienced an adverse reaction or suffered a burn injury at home after using the product, you have every right to claim compensation for your injuries.
You’re probably feeling angry, upset and worried, so take action and contact the product manufacturer to complain – you may also wish to contact Trading Standards. Get in touch with a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible after your accident to find out whether you could make a claim for compensation. There’s a three year time limit in place to make a claim, so don’t miss out.
Treating burn injuries
If you have suffered a chemical burn after using a beauty product at home, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible. You’ll probably need to head to your local hospital’s minor injuries unit, where your wounds can be assessed, cleaned and treated. If your burns are more severe, you may be transferred to a specialist burn unit. In some cases, a skin graft may be needed to repair the damage to your skin. Burns can be very serious and painful and time off work may be needed to allow you to recover from your injuries fully.
