Falling ill or becoming injured on holiday is unfortunately a fairly common occurrence for British holidaymakers abroad. Causes for accidents on holiday

- Getting food poisoning from the hotel restaurant. This includes instances of undercooked food, food not being stored at correct temperatures and cross-contamination
- Getting a virus or bug from something the hotel has done, such as using unsterilised swimming pool water
- Falling or tripping in the hotel on something that should have been fixed, such as broken pavement
- An accident in a playground within the grounds of the hotel which was not suitably safe for children.
