    Compensation for banana boat accidents

    Compensation for banana boat accidents

Going on holiday during the hot summer months means it’s likely you might want to give watersports a go at the local beach – even if you’re at the seaside in the UK, you’ll find some resorts offering watersports such as water-skiing and banana boat rides.

Banana boat rides have to be one of the most popular watersports in the world – you ride on a giant inflatable banana that’s towed behind a speed boat, and both kids and adults love to get involved! Unfortunately, banana boat accidents can happen in the UK and abroad, and often this type of accident can lead to serious injury or even fatalities. If someone you love has been injured in an accident on a banana boat, get in touch with Accident Advice Helpline to see if they could be eligible to claim personal injury compensation.

    What caused your accident?

Banana boats are usually towed at high speeds, which means if you fall off there is the potential for serious injury. You could be pulled under the water and drown, injured by the boat towing the banana or even suffer head injuries or crush injuries from your fall. Banana boat operators need to follow strict health and safety procedures and should not allow children to ride on a banana boat unsupervised. Banana boat accidents which occur without safety procedures in place to protect the public could see operators held liable for the accidents.

So if you have been injured due to negligence, you could make a claim for personal injury compensation, and you could be awarded a settlement as compensation for your pain and suffering.

    Who’s to blame?

The operator of the banana boat ride could be held liable for your injuries, and if so they could be ordered to pay you compensation. Suffer in silence and it could mean that the operator is allowed to continue with their negligent approach to health and safety – and more people could be injured. Complaining to the operator and contacting Accident Advice Helpline on 0800 689 0500 are the first steps towards getting the compensation you deserve, whether you have sustained minor or life-changing injuries.

Remember that if you’ve been injured on a banana boat abroad, you can only claim compensation if this forms part of your package holiday (for example a bookable activity or part of an organised excursion), as your tour operator could be held liable.
