Claiming compensation for a choke incident

Whenever we eat or drink something there is a tiny chance we may choke on it if we are not careful. This is made infinitesimal by the fact that we chew and swallow carefully, so it is rare for something like this to occur.

However some people have medical conditions that make it more likely they will choke on their food if they are not given appropriate meals to eat. For people in care it is imperative that the carers provide appropriate food and if required monitor those individuals while they eat.

There is a possibility, albeit a tiny one, that the potential of negligence can appear in this situation. If this should occur there is an option to consider claiming compensation for a choke incident. For example if this has happened to a family member you can seek compensation on their behalf. These cases are exceptionally rare but they do happen, and when they do they are upsetting for all involved. This is particularly the case for the person affected but it also has a knock-on effect on their family members. Seeking advice if this has happened to you is very important.

    How severe can choking be?

Choking can be fatal if proper attention is not received immediately. If the individual is in a medical setting the hope is that someone would be able to treat them straight away in order to prevent them from choking to death. Of course there are many situations in which the proper food that is appropriate for a particular individual will minimise the odds of choking in the first place. This is the most important route to take and one that will hopefully lead to an encouraging outcome.
