    How to claim shop injury compensation


    Going shopping should be a pleasant experience. From an independent shop to a department store, and a jeweller’s to a supermarket, all these shops should provide you with a pleasant shopping experience.

    The majority of people would agree this is usually the experience they have. There aren’t too many people who end up having good reason to try and claim shop injury compensation.

    It does occasionally happen though, and there can be a variety of situations that might lead to this outcome.

    Accidents in shops

    The shop owner, regardless of the type of shop we’re talking about, has a duty of care to ensure the premises are safe for people to enter and use. For example they should ensure everything is maintained on a regular basis.

    If any faults or potential hazards are found they should be fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime a notice warning people of the hazard should be clearly put up so people can see it.

    For instance, let’s say a shop has a leak in the roof which means water comes in and puddles on the floor whenever it rains. When it does rain the owner should have buckets to catch the water and yellow warning signs out so people know there is a potential hazard there.

    If this is not the case and someone slips over in the water and hurts themselves, there could be good evidence to prove negligence on the part of the shop owner.
