How to claim injury at work compensation

Very few people ever think they will be injured at work. For the most part they would be right. Of course some people do work in more potentially-hazardous jobs than others. Examples might include deep-sea divers, police officers and people who regularly work at height.

In cases where people are hurt in the workplace there could be an opportunity for those individuals to claim injury at work compensation. This might be warranted if they suffer some kind of injury that could reasonably have been avoided.

What situations might result in this occurring?

Not all injuries would lead to a situation where compensation was payable. For example if a worker receives appropriate manual handling training and yet they choose not to follow it, sustaining a back injury in the process, this may mean there is no reason to be compensated. However if a worker tries to lift something heavy in an incorrect manner, they might have a good case to argue if they never received manual handling training in the first place.

As you can see, different situations can very likely lead to different outcomes. As such, it is important to ensure professional advice is sought if you are injured in some way in the workplace. This does not have to be done immediately; the law states there is a three-year window during which you can make a claim. Some people will be too focused on their injuries and the possible effect they may have on their life from that moment on.

Might you have a chance to get injury at work compensation?

As you may understand, every case is individual and has its own facts and circumstances that must be considered. As such you should definitely seek proper legal advice as quickly as you can. The sooner you do so, the sooner you might have a chance to get compensation if you are entitled to receive some.
