How to claim cycling injury compensation

Cyclists are particularly prone to injury if they are involved in a road accident. Even if a cyclist wears a crash helmet, they have very little protection against potential injuries caused in a collision.

As such, if you have been in a road accident of some description as a cyclist, you may be in a position to consider making a cycling injury compensation claim. If so, you could probably do with seeking some professional legal advice regarding the likelihood of success.

In what situations may cycling injury compensation be paid out?

Every situation will be different, but all successful claims for compensation will have one thing in common. They must all be able to prove that negligence on the part of a third party is to blame. The third party in this case may be another driver or even a pedestrian, or perhaps even the manufacturer of the bicycle or safety equipment you were using at the time.

In some instances it will be obvious who was to blame for the accident. For example if you are cycling along a road and a pedestrian suddenly steps out in front of you to cross the road without looking, this could cause you to crash your bike. Similarly if you have an accident and suffer a head injury even though you were wearing a helmet at the time, it may be worth looking into whether your helmet was fit for the purpose it was intended for.
