    What causes knee injuries?

Accidents in the workplace are an all too frequent occurrence nowadays, but did you know that you may be able to make a claim for financial compensation if you experience an injury whilst at work? All UK employers have a legal duty of care and should they fail in this regard, workplace injuries usually follow. Knee injuries can be particularly painful and they make up a sizeable proportion of the workplace accident outcomes.

    Knee injuries explained

Our knees are very delicate and are often required for various movements and activities in the workplace. If we put too much strain on our knees, or adopt an incorrect posture whilst lifting, we can do serious injury to them. If the knee cap, the patella, becomes dislocated or damaged, our mobility will be severely hampered.

And the pain associated with such an injury is usually intense. The recovery associated with a knee injury can result in a serious loss of earnings due to the recuperation period required. Accident Advice Helpline is more than happy to offer expert advice to any worker who has experienced this type of injury.

    How to avoid knee injuries

If your employer has followed the correct health and safety guidelines, your workplace should be clean and tidy and all workers will have undergone the correct training regarding these procedures. Manual handling training, clear and hazard-free walkways should all add up to reducing the risk of knee injury in your workplace.

If you feel at risk of this type of injury, you should speak to your employer immediately. If he/she fails to offer any advice, or doesn’t deal with any hazards, an injury may soon follow.
