    Catwalk accident counselling

If you are the victim of a catwalk accident that was not your fault, you need the right kind of help and support; i.e. catwalk accident counselling.

    What is a catwalk accident?

There are many different kinds of accident that can occur, either on or around, a catwalk; however, the most common are trips, slips and falls, because traditional catwalks are raised off the ground. Whilst this ensures an entertaining spectacle for audience members, it can make things very tricky for those stomping down it, in awkward outfits and towering shoes.

This is why it is so important for catwalk environments to be perfectly maintained, and for models to be instructed in the safest way to walk down them. It might sound like an obvious piece of advice, but this kind of environment is hectic and filled with distractions – it is very easy to stray too close to the edge of a catwalk, to lose focus and stumble, and to fall victim to uneven or poorly maintained surfaces.

    What are the side effects?

Not only physical injury can occur as a result of catwalk accidents, because psychological trauma is also a problem that can arise after the event. This type of accident, even when not resulting in serious injury, can cause significant psychological problems; for example, an intense fear of returning to the catwalk, in the wake of an injury or incident. In these circumstances, income, family, friends and relationships can all suffer.

In the event of psychological trauma, your GP may decide to refer you for catwalk accident counselling. He or she will assess your situation, arrive at a suitable course of treatment and refer you to an NHS counsellor. Yet, this is not the only available option – particularly if there are delay issues arranging an NHS appointment with a specialist. The option to seek private treatment is also present and in many cases is taken up as an alternative.

Do I have to pay for counselling?

If your doctor does decide to refer you to an NHS specialist, you will not have to pay for treatment. However, this is not the case when it comes to treatment at a private clinic – fees will apply, and we cannot help you to pay these costs. Nevertheless, Accident Advice Helpline can help you to recover some, or all, of these costs as a part of your original claim, for no extra charge.

Am I eligible to make a claim?

You are eligible for compensation if the catwalk accident occurred within the last three years, and was a result of negligence by a third party; usually the organisation responsible for the maintenance of the working environment – in this case, the runway itself. You will need to give a personal account of the accident and provide as much evidence as possible, in order to support your claim for compensation.

If you have received, or are due to receive, treatment from a private counselling service, and would like help recovering a portion of the costs, call one of our friendly advisors direct today on 0800 689 0500. We operate a free 24-hour helpline, so do not hesitate to get in touch and arrange a consultation.
