Car Safety Guide – What is the safest Supermini?

Car safety is always a top priority when purchasing a new vehicle and NCAP perform various tests to give consumers an indication of how well-protected a car will be in the event of an accident.

Various tests are conducted including the Pedestrian Protection test, the Child Protection test, the Whiplash test and the Frontal Impact test among others. The car is then given a score according to how well it protects passengers and drivers from injury should there be an accident on the road.

According to the NCAP tests, the safest Supermini is the Renault Clio which scored highly on crash protection and also scored an impressive 99% in the Safety Assist category of the tests. It scored a high 89% in the adult safety test making it extremely well protected in the event of a crash. Also included in this model are airbags, seatbelt reminders, Emergency Brake Assist function, a speed limiter and electronic stability control.

There are also optional extras such as rear parking sensors to help further safeguard the car against crashes. Unfortunately, accidents still have the potential to happen on the road no matter how safe your car may be.

    Potential road accidents

Accidents can happen under unforeseen circumstances such as poor driving weather, potholes on the road or even unexpected diversions. The safety features in this vehicle help reduce the effects of injury but, unfortunately, they cannot prevent accidents caused by someone else. Other drivers may be speeding or you could be a victim of a rear end collision. There could be careless pedestrians on the road or there may be slippery roads which could cause an accident. If you think your accident was the fault of someone else and you have evidence of negligence, then you are entitled to make a claim for compensation.
