Car Safety Guide – What is the safest small family car?

NCAP conduct safety tests on various areas of vehicles to determine how well they perform upon impact. Crash test dummies are placed in the vehicle being tested and readings are given out indicating how protected passengers and drivers will be should there be an accident on the road. Families with children will be more likely to look for a car which is child-friendly and according to NCAP, the safest small family car is the Volvo V40. This car scored 98% for adult protection meaning that injuries are likely to be less severe should there be a crash on the road. It also has a 100% score for its Safety Assistance System which helps drivers keep to appropriate speeds in certain situations. It also has an appealing, sporty design despite being a small family car and most importantly, has very good safety provisions for children travelling in the vehicle. Although the car is well-protected, it is still possible for an accident to occur on the road.

    Potential car accidents

The safest cars around do not necessarily prevent other drivers from being careless on the road. The safety precautions taken by the manufacturer of the Volvo V40 will reduce the chances of serious injury should a crash occur, whether it is with another vehicle or with a tree or pole. Should a careless driver hit the rear end of your car, you or a member of your family may suffer whiplash as a result. Should the crash be at higher speeds, you could suffer from lacerations from broken glass, inflammation, strains or even broken bones. In the cases where there is evidence on the part of another driver or third party, then you can make a compensation claim.
